Ferocactus latispinus | Devil’s Tongue Barrel Cactus

Ferocactus latispinus, commonly called Devil’s Tongue Barrel Cactus, is a striking barrel cactus prized for its deep ribbed body and dramatic reddish spines. Its broad, flattened lower central spine is one of the defining features of the species and gives this cactus its unmistakable sculptural look.

Exact plant shown. You will receive this individual plant in its 4-inch nursery pot.

• Light: Bright light to several hours of direct sun. Acclimate gradually to stronger sun to avoid scorching.
• Water: Allow the potting mix to dry completely between waterings. Water deeply, then let excess water drain.
• Soil: Fast-draining cactus or succulent mix.
• Growth: Slow-growing, compact barrel form.
• Flowering: Mature plants can produce pink to purple-toned flowers when grown with strong light and appropriate seasonal conditions.

Good to know: This is a drought-tolerant plant that prefers being kept on the dry side. Its spines are sharp, so place it where pets and small children cannot brush against it.

Live plants naturally vary and may show minor cosmetic marks from normal growth and handling. The photos show the exact plant offered in this listing.
